Proposed £4.6 Million Ury Estate Investment Could Create 57 Local Jobs
M&S has thanked residents in Stonehaven and the surrounding area after receiving more than 1,800 letters of support for its plans to bring a new M&S Foodhall to Ury Estate. The company stated that this response is equivalent to around one in six Stonehaven residents backing the proposed investment, highlighting a strong level of local support.
The proposed £4.6 million investment aims to deliver a modern 16,000 sq ft M&S Foodhall. This development is expected to create around 57 local jobs and provide customers with access to more than 6,600 M&S Food products in a convenient new location. M&S indicated that the proposal forms part of its continued investment in Aberdeenshire and, if approved, is anticipated to open in Spring 2028.

Andrew Bowie MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine commented on the plans, stating: “It will be fantastic to welcome one of Britain’s most respected household names to Stonehaven. Marks and Spencer have a great reputation for sourcing food from Scottish producers with impeccable standards. Many consumers today want to know how their food has got from farm to fork. It doesn’t get any more local than Aberdeenshire – the best in dairy, meat and fruit and veg can all be found a short distance away. Good, stable employment will also be a huge boon to Stonehaven and the wider Mearns area.”
