Scottish Sea Farms is marking 20 years as a supplier to M&S with smoked salmon tastings for customers in Edinburgh and Oban.
The company, which is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is the retailer’s exclusive fresh salmon supplier. Its salmon comes from more than 40 farms, including sites in Shetland.
The anniversary coincides with the launch of Scottish Sea Farms’ Billy Baa site in Shetland, which is being stocked this month. The farm has a maximum permitted biomass of 4,091 tonnes. According to the company, modelling found that its position further offshore would provide better growing conditions without increasing the area’s overall environmental load.

Scottish Sea Farms managing director Jim Gallagher said the business was “incredibly proud” to be M&S’s exclusive fresh salmon supplier, adding: “Twenty years on, we are just as energised and excited about the partnership as ever, particularly as we enter a new chapter with the launch of our Billy Baa sea farm.”
The tastings will take place at M&S Edinburgh Princes Street on Friday 25 September, from 1pm to 3pm, and at M&S Oban on Tuesday 29 September, from 10.30am to 11.30am. They form part of Scottish Food & Drink September, a month-long celebration organised by Scotland Food & Drink.
