Aldi is set to upgrade four stores across Scotland this summer as part of a wider £300 million investment into its existing UK estate throughout 2026.

The refurbishment programme will see improvements tailored to each location, with a focus on creating more space for shoppers and introducing enhanced sustainability features. Planned upgrades include energy-efficient fridge doors and the use of natural refrigerants aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

Selected stores will also benefit from refreshed bakery sections, alongside improved health and beauty and fresh food areas, designed to enhance the overall customer experience.

Across the UK, 25 Aldi stores are earmarked for upgrades, spanning locations such as Aberdeen, Musselburgh, Liverpool, London and Manchester.

In Scotland, the stores set to undergo refurbishment this summer are:

  • Newhailes Road, Musselburgh
  • Basin View, Montrose
  • Greenpark Drive, Polmont
  • Cornhill Shopping Arcade, Aberdeen

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “We’re continuing to invest in our stores to ensure our customers have the best possible shopping experience at Aldi.

“These upgrades will help us create even more convenient and efficient stores for both customers and colleagues while also supporting our sustainability ambitions.”

The announcement forms part of Aldi’s broader expansion strategy for 2026, which also includes a £370 million commitment to opening new stores across the UK, signalling continued growth for the discount retailer.
