Smirnoff No.21 vodka forms the base for the drink, featuring a black charcoal salt rim and fiery taste.

This Halloween, Smirnoff is getting into the spirit of the season with the Scary Smirnoff Margarita, a cocktail inspired by the classic margarita but with a vodka twist. Smirnoff No.21 has swapped out the classic tequila for vodka and is presented for the occasion with a black charcoal salt rim, a deep blackberry colour, and a jalapeño kick. This new drink is described as a Margarita with a dark side.

The Scary Smirnoff Margarita is intended as a treat for friends, whether hosting a Halloween party, heading out, or having friends over for a scary movie. It is designed to be easy to make at home with a handful of ingredients. Smirnoff No.21 is described as a smooth, triple-distilled vodka, filtered through charcoal, making it the base for the cocktail’s flavours.

The cocktail combines tangy fresh lime with the rich, jammy sweetness of blackberry syrup. Two dashes of Jalapeño Tabasco are added to create a slow-building, fiery heat that warms each sip. The drink also features a honey and black charcoal salt rim, which is intended to provide a sweet, salty hit before the first taste, offering a dark twist on the margarita’s traditional salted rim. Served over ice and garnished with a fresh blackberry and a red chilli, it aims to deliver a sweet, sour, and spicy experience.

To make the Scary Smirnoff Margarita, the ingredients required are:

  • 50ml Smirnoff No.21
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 15 ml blackberry syrup
  • 2 dashes Jalapeño Tabasco
  • Honey
  • Black charcoal salt
  • Fresh blackberries & a red chilli for garnish

The method for preparation is as follows:

  • Rim your glass with honey and black charcoal salt.
  • Chill your glass with ice.
  • Add 50ml Smirnoff No.21, 25ml lime juice, 15ml blackberry syrup and 2 dashes of Jalapeño Tabasco to a shaker with ice.
  • Shake firmly until the outside of the shaker is ice cold.
  • Strain mixture into your rocks glass with ice and garnish with blackberry & red chilli.
  • Enjoy.
