Countdown to Glasgow Cocktail Weekend

Kelvingrove Café hosts celebrated London Bartender Aiden Page of Callooh Callay to serve up cutting-edge cocktails made with Naked Grouse marking six days to go until Glasgow Cocktail Weekend.

Transforming the way you think about whisky and throwing tradition out the window the bar takeover is inspired by the recent  Naked Grouse 12 Nights of the Future series which sees 12 different bars across London including London Cocktail Club, Cocktail Trading Co, Nola and more host a guest bartender for an evening.

Top mixologists from Hutchesons, Spanish Butcher, The Finnieston and Kelvingrove Café have also come together to showcase inventive cocktails and a taste of what to expect from Glasgow Cocktail Weekend in a video to launch the festival. Friday headliners Illyus and Barrientos have provided an exclusive soundtrack for the video with their yet-to-be-released single M.E.A. on Toolroom Records.

Futuristic Naked Grouse cocktails served up by Aiden have been created by Kelvingrove Café bartender, Jamie Moran, reimagining how whisky can be drunk and will be available throughout Glasgow Cocktail Weekend (running Aug 9th – 12th). Strawberries and Dreams see Malbec married with Naked Grouse to create a perfectly sweet whisky serve that is juicy red, full of flavour and finished with a Scottish strawberry. While Courgette Junction has grapefruit base, Naked Grouse, Courgette Fino and topped with a brut champagne to create a fresher way to drink whisky.

Aiming to change the perspective on how we might drink whisky in five years, these drinks will certainly spark debate after your sip. All part of the Glasgow Cocktail Weekend which will see the biggest cocktail takeover in just under 30 of the Glasgow’s best bars next weekend (Aug 9 – 12th) including The Finnieston, Spanish Butcher, Rioja to Max’s. 100 £5 cocktails will be available across the four days for ticket holders, alongside sampling and four DJ events.

Glasgow Cocktail Weekend will also be taking over four different venues each day with a DJs that sell out internationally including a unique collaboration at Tontine Lane pop up for the Merchant City, with llyus & Barrientos playing the hidden lane on Friday evening.

Running from August 9th  to August 12th the event is set to be an incredible showcase of Glasgow’s best bars, delicious drinks and live music performances across the city.

Giving cocktail lovers the chance to sample over 100 signature £5 drinks and attend masterclasses in 30 of the city’s top venues, Glasgow Cocktail Weekend also has an jam-packed live music programme with four intimate performances from Glasgow DJs that sell out internationally, including llyus & Barrientos, cult dance favourites We Should Have Out More and house kings, Silicone Soul playing different venues each day

Organised by award-winning Scottish communications consultancy Moir Media, the festival aims to allow Glasgow and tourists to the city a chance to discover the grit and glamour of the best of Glasgow’s live music scene and independent food and drink operators.

  • Saturday 11th We Should Hang Out More – 2 – 10pm Lebowsksi With a hipster following built on a love of disco and techno, these producers have a cult following that continue to impress.
  • Sunday 12th August  closing party – All female superstar lineup including Rebecca Vasmant, IDA, Lindsay Green and Aisha showing that girls do it bigger and better to close the festival – Five March 6 until 10pm
