A record-breaking hour of ice cream sales crowned a whirlwind weekend for one of Aberdeen’s most iconic dessert destinations.

Mackie’s 19.2, the city centre ice cream parlour run by Mackie’s of Scotland, welcomed hundreds of jubilant supporters in the immediate aftermath of Aberdeen Football Club’s Scottish Cup victory parade.

As an estimated 100,000 supporters lined Union Street to celebrate the Dons’ dramatic penalty shootout win over Celtic, footfall fans surged through the nearby parlour, creating its single busiest hour since opening in 2017.

Staff served 30 five litre Napoli ice cream tubs throughout the day, with Honeycomb proving to be the flavour of choice among most fans.

To meet the inevitable demand, Mackie’s 19.2 opened an hour earlier, which helped the parlour serve more than 1,000 scoops throughout the day.

Yvette Harrison, Parlour Manager, said the swell of joyful fans created an electric atmosphere both in and outside the venue.

She said: “We knew the parade would bring a buzz, but what we saw was beyond anything we expected.

“There was a constant queue out the door, families in club colours, and a real sense of shared celebration – it was special to be part of it.”

Located within the Marischal Square development, Mackie’s 19.2 is named for the 19.2 miles between the family farm and the parlour. Since its opening, it has become a fixture for locals and visitors alike seeking premium ice cream in the Granite City.

This recent spike in trade reflects the deep local ties between Aberdeen businesses and the footballing community.

With the team’s silverware success drawing in fans of all ages, the celebratory mood turned into a significant boost for nearby retailers and hospitality venues.

Yvette added: “It’s a win-win for the city. The Dons brought the trophy home, and we all got to share a moment – and a scoop – of celebration.

“Aberdeenshire is now the home of the Scottish Cup and Scotland’s favourite ice cream!”

Based in Aberdeen’s Marischal Square, Mackie’s 19.2 is located exactly 19.2 miles away from the family farm, near Inverurie, where all of Mackie’s ice cream and chocolate is made.
