Edinburgh hospitality group Encore Bars Group has announced the expansion of its city centre portfolio with the acquisition of The GlobeBar at 13 Niddry Street, EH1 1LG.

The venue will continue to operate as The Globe for the remainder of the year, with the group focusing on a smooth, low-fuss transition for regulars and staff closing after New Years Eve for a full refurbishment and rebrand to transform the venue which will open in February 2025.

The team are behind some of the most popular venues in the city, The Boston Bar on Hanover Street, late-night favourite Freddy’s on Frederick Street, and Westside Rodeo on George Street. The team will initially run The Globe as is: honouring the venue’s existing atmosphere and loyal clientele while gradually introducing subtle improvements and a warm welcome.

Edward Fox, Director Encore Bars, said: “We are delighted to be setting some roots in the old town for our expanding group. We have been looking for the right venue and definitely feel we have found it at The Globe! We can’t wait to add our personality and touch to the venue in the New Year, aiming to open in February 2025 with our next concept. In the meantime, it is business as usual. The doors are open Wednesday – Sunday until the New Year, we look forward to welcoming you in for a final few drinks at The Globe.”

Further announcements and details of the plans for the future will be shared in the coming months.
