Partnership with The Vegetarian Butcher introduces new NoChicken Chunks across UK branches.
German Doner Kebab (GDK) has partnered with the meat alternative brand, The Vegetarian Butcher, to introduce a new and improved recipe for all of GDK’s vegetarian and plant-based kebab offerings. The updated OV Kebab Vegetarian and OV Kebab Plant-Based dishes are now available across all GDK UK branches and will remain on the menu indefinitely.
These enhanced dishes now incorporate The Vegetarian Butcher’s NoChicken Chunks, which are designed to deliver the taste, texture, and versatility of real chicken. To provide a signature GDK experience, the NoChicken Chunks are infused with the same blend of seasonings used in GDK’s doner kebab and served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and red cabbage, nestled in handmade toasted sesame waffle bread with GDK’s three signature sauces. Vegetarian guests can also select NoChicken Chunks as a protein and fibre choice across a number of GDK’s other popular dishes.
Simon Colthorpe, Chief Marketing Officer at The Vegetarian Butcher UK, stated: “The best way to win over meat lovers is by showing them they don’t have to sacrifice meat. This partnership is another step forward on our mission to serve meat lovers the flavours and textures they know and love. With its juicy bite and flavoursome taste, the new plant-based Kebab delivers everything fans expect. Many meat lovers may not even taste the difference.”
The Vegetarian Butcher’s products, which are made using soy, have a 70% lower global warming impact, 53% lower land use, and 3% lower water consumption impact compared to chicken, according to a study completed by Unilever’s Safety & Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC). The products also offer nutritional benefits, including comparable protein levels, lower saturated fat, and more fibre.
