The first spirit to come out one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, other than whisky, on sale at Harrods for £1,300.

Ultra-premium rum, Dictador Glenfarclas 1972, which has been produced at Glenfarclas Distillery is a limited-edition collaboration rum, with just 12 bottles of each expression on sale at Harrods.

Dictador Glenfarclas 1972 is borne out of the pioneering 2 Masters rum project, a series of partnerships between award-winning luxury Colombian lifestyle products business Dictador and premier Cognac, Whisky, Champagne, Armagnac, Bordeaux and Sauternes houses from around the globe

Dictador chose to have one such partnership with the Scottish Glenfarclas Distillery. Its Distillery Manager, Callum Fraser, received the rum for the final stage of ageing. The Dictador Glenfarclas rum originates from a 1972 single vintage cask and features malted barley overtones on the nose, Medjool dates to add a depth of sweetness and a lingering finish of toffee and toasted coconut.

Other limited-edition rums in the 2 Masters Series include: Dictador Despagne 1980, Dictador Chateau D’Arche 1980, Dictador Leclerc Briant 1978, Dictador Laballe Armagnac 1976 and Dictador Hardy Cognac 1978.

Callum Fraser, Master Distiller at Glenfarclas Whisky Distillery in Speyside says: “We were delighted to work with a 45-year-old Dictador Rum from a 1972 single vintage cask, which was finished in fine port casks and then shipped to us. We matured our Dictador Rum Glenfarclas 1972 for a further seven months in a Glenfarclas 2002 third-fill Jerez Sherry cask to create a truly exquisite liquid.”
