Isle of Arran Distillers is raising a dram to a major milestone with the launch of a rare collection of fully matured, 10-year-old Peated Arran Single Malt casks. The new offer follows the success of last year’s limited-edition Palo Cortado Sherry cask release, which celebrated the company’s 30th anniversary, and this time honours another significant chapter: 20 years of dedicated service from Bulk Stock & Cask Sales Manager, Gillian Snaddon.
Scotland in miniature, whisky in full
Often described as “Scotland in miniature”, the Isle of Arran is home to two independent distilleries that have helped spearhead a modern renaissance in Scottish whisky. Lochranza in the north is the birthplace of the multi-award-winning Arran Single Malt, while Lagg in the south is dedicated to creating bold, heavily peated Lagg Single Malt.
What began in 1995 as a pioneering effort to restore whisky-making to the island has grown into a thriving two-distillery operation. A modern classic with a smoky twist

For a few weeks each year over the past decade, the stills at Lochranza turned their attention to peated barley runs, producing a distinctive spirit that whisky fans came to know as Machrie Moor Single Malt. This expression artfully married the smooth, fruity Arran profile with a lick of warm bonfire smoke, offering a compelling glimpse of peat through an Arran lens.
Production of peated spirit at Lochranza concluded in 2017, coinciding with the acquisition of land for the construction of Lagg Distillery in the south of the island. Today, Lagg focuses exclusively on heavily peated single malt, leaving those early Lochranza peated batches as a finite, and increasingly coveted, chapter in Arran’s story.
Celebrating 20 years of cask stewardship
Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few Scottish distillers to offer cask sales directly, with a strong emphasis on transparency, trust and long-term relationships. Over the years, thousands of cask owners have purchased, sampled, sold, or bottled their own casks of Arran Single Malt, guided through the process by a dedicated in-house expert.
Every client is personally supported by Bulk Stock & Cask Sales Manager, Gillian Snaddon, who this year celebrates two decades with the company. Reflecting on the new peated cask release, she says:
“Not every day I get to present aged single malt whisky casks, especially ones as unique as these peated ones. The latest release comprises 10-year-old Arran Single Malt 1st Fill Bourbon Peated casks, each filled in 2016 with spirit distilled from 20ppm Scottish barley. Priced at £10,500, the casks have all been re-gauged this year and contain approximately 92–105 regauged litres of alcohol, fully in line with expectations after a decade of maturation.
As with Isle of Arran Distillers’ wider cask programme, the offer is designed to provide peace of mind and a sense of partnership. All purchases include five years of storage and insurance, ensuring that owners can enjoy the evolution of their cask with the reassurance that it is properly cared for at the distillery.
With peated spirit no longer produced at Lochranza, these casks represent a finite stock and a distinct style of Arran Single Malt that cannot be replicated.
