Popeyes announces opening date of first Scottish restaurant

01/09/2023

POPEYES® UK has announced the launch of its new Barrhead Drive-Thru restaurant as Monday 18th September 2023, and the first in the queue on opening day will win free Chicken Sandwiches for a year.

After much anticipation, the new drive-thru will open its doors at 11am on Monday 18th September at Barrhead Retail Park. Popeyes saw its most successful opening to-date out of 4,000 restaurants globally when it opened the first UK drive-thru in Rotherham in May. Earlier this week customers queued for 16 hours ahead of the Cardiff Bay Drive Thru and the new Barrhead restaurant is expected to be equally popular, so guests are encouraged to arrive early to be in with a chance of winning exclusive prizes.

The all new American fried chicken restaurant will be located at Barrhead’s new Retail Park and will mark the brand’s 12th opening in 2023, and the 29th opening since landing in the UK in November 2021.

Popeyes® UK is set to pull out all the stops to showcase its Southern hospitality as it brings a taste of Louisiana to Barrhead. Showcasing its Southern hospitality, Popeyes® UK has announced huge giveaways, with the first 3 people in the queue on opening day, both in vehicles and pedestrians, to win free Chicken Sandwiches for a whole year*. Additionally, the first 25 vehicles through the drive-thru and the first 25 pedestrians in the dine in queue will also be rewarded with a free Chicken Sandwich and exclusive drive-thru merch.

Popeyes® first drive thru in the UK broke records earlier this year, with its launch in Rotherham becoming its busiest launch globally. The first Drive Thru in Wales landed in Cardiff Bay this week, with customers queuing for 16 hours to get their hands on the famous Louisiana Chicken Sandwich. The brand has now announced its first restaurant in Scotland will land on 18th September.

Not only that, to celebrate the launch of its new breakfast menu, Popeyes® UK will also be offering free breakfast muffins to the first 25 cars in the queue at the new drive-thru on Tuesday 19th September. Breakfast will start at 8am, including the mouth-watering big breakfast roll, Cajun hash browns and indulgent Nutella-topped buttermilk biscuits.

Renowned for its Chicken Sandwich that ‘broke the internet’ when it launched in the US and its world-famous ‘shatter crunch’ chicken, the UK’s second Popeyes® UK Drive-Thru restaurant will offer the brand’s full mouth-watering menu, which includes the much-loved Signature Louisiana Chicken, Signature Wraps, Chicken tenders, Hot Wings, and Popeyes® Biscuits with gravy and more, seven days a week. The Barrhead restaurant will also serve its brand-new breakfast menu from 8am to 11am each day.

Popeyes® UK Barrhead restaurant will open at Barrhead Retail Park at 11am on Monday 18th September 2023. To find out more about Popeyes® UK, please visit https://popeyesuk.com or follow the brand on Instagram at @PopeyesUK or TikTok at @popeyesuk.
