SHORE The Scottish Seaweed Co. (SHORE) has launched its latest flavour of seaweed chips as it celebrates selling more than one million packets since last September.

Salt & Balsamic is the latest flavour created by the Wick-based brand and will be launched in Sainsbury’s Scotland stores starting September 8, 2024.

Available in 80g share bags and 25g individual impulse bags, this new flavour joins SHORE’s range of better-for-you seaweed crisps, which already includes Peking Duck, Sweet Sriracha, and Lightly Salted.

SHORE sales have soared by 30% this year and continues to expand its presence in major supermarkets, including Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, Co-Op and Holland and Barrett. Additionally, its products are now stocked in 60 locations of the UK’s largest outdoor retailer, Go Outdoors.

Later this month, the Salt & Balsamic flavour will be featured in a limited-time promotion across all Scottish Aldi stores and will also begin rolling out to hundreds of independent stores nationwide.

Keith Paterson, Founder of SHORE, is looking forward to the hearing public’s reaction to the much-desired flavour.

He said: “We continually get requests for new flavours and with the phenomenal growth of the SHORE brand this year, now is the right time.

“The new Salt & Balsamic flavour will make our seaweed chips ever more accessible. A twist on a classic crisp flavour, it has had incredible feedback from all who have tried it during our development process.

“Since launching in 2020 SHORE has attracted a growing, loyal fan base, thanks to the combination of great foodie flavours and better-for-you credentials. We believe the new Salt & Balsamic flavour does a great job of ticking both these boxes”.

Delivering great-tasting, healthier, and planet-friendly snacks to a wider audience across the nation has been one of SHORE’s missions since launching in 2020.

The brand’s Peking Duck flavour was recently named a finalist for the Healthier Choice Product of the Year at Scotland Food and Drink’s Excellence Awards, while the Sweet Sriracha flavour has been nominated for Snacks & Accompaniment Product of the Year, with winners to be announced in October.

Over the years, SHORE has earned several prestigious industry and national awards, including two Great Taste awards, Great British Food Awards, World Food Innovation Awards, and Free From Food Awards.

SHORE has sold more than two million bags of chips to date.
