THIS Week saw the second ever Scottish Takeaway Awards have been announced take place at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow with 150 representatives from the industry gathered to celebrate those who shone brightly in recent years.

These Awards recognise those who are the real masters in their category; from the Best Italian and Oriental Takeaway to the Best Dessert or Breakfast Takeaway of the year.

The event heartily comments the establishments where there is always something for the whole family to enjoy and whose gastronomic delights grace the dining tables, living rooms and the laps of Scottish homes.

A spokesperson for The Scottish Takeaway Awards 2022 said: “Takeaways have been around for a long time and are the very backbone of the local community and economy.” 

“The Awards aim to provide a platform to those who have dedicated their career in providing us with delicious dishes across multiple cuisines in a timely manner and affordable prices.”

They added: “The competition was tough as there are some excellent professionals in the industry but each finalist had their own success story to tell.”

The winners at the Scottish Takeaway Awards 2022 are:

Curry Takeaway of the Year:

North – Saffron Indian (Glasgow), Central – The Aladdins Indian Takeaway (Perth), South West – The Curry Leaf (Ayr), South East – Bell Bottom (Edinburgh)

Overall Winner – The Curry Leaf (Ayr)

Fish N’ Chips Takeaway of the Year

North – Mcleod’s Fish & Chips (Inverness), Central – Anstruther Fish Bar (Anstruther), South West – Tony’s Chips Shop Shawhead (Coatbridge), South East – Pierinos (Edinburgh)

Overall Winner – Tony’s Chips Shop Shawhead (Coatbridge)

Kebab Takeaway of the Year

North – Bodrum Pizza & Kebab House (Aberdeen), Central – Best Kebab (Kirkcaldy), South West – Viking Café (Kilwinning), South East – Viking Café (Kilwinning)

Overall Winner – Viking Café (Kilwinning)

Pizza Takeaway of the Year

North – Pino Pizza (Lossiemouth), Central – Bruno’s Take Away (Stirling), South West -Benvenuto Takeaway (Dumfries), South East – La Favorita (Edinburgh)

Overall Winner – Bruno’s Takeaway (Stirling)

Deli of the Year 

North – Heavenly Deli (Inverness), Central – Rocca Italian Deli (St Andrews), South West – Pietro Deli (Glasgow), South East – Roots Deli and Salad Bar (Edinburgh)

Overall Winner –  Rocca Italian Deli (St Andrews)

Chinese Takeaway of the Year
