TWO Glasgow hotels are amongst the “Best Places to Work in Hospitality” as Dalata Hotel Group has been included within the top six of the highly coveted 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2023.

Operating Clayton Hotel Glasgow and Maldron Hotel Glasgow, the group will go forward as finalists for the top ranking at The Cateys in July.

This news comes as the company announced a very strong first half trading performance across its existing hotels and the continued impact of new hotels (expects adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to be over €100 million for the six months ending 30 June 2023).   Dermot Crowley, CEO of Dalata said the growth was a result of the dedication of its 5,500 employees, commenting: “Our people remain our greatest strength.”

Its pipeline of new and expanding hotels is fuelling major career opportunities, with over 220 roles currently open for new recruits across the portfolio of hotels, as well as providing exciting opportunities for those already working within the company.

The company was commended for its responsiveness to their people’s needs in facing current living conditions and rising costs, including:

  • Brought forward a pay increase with wages boosted by 6.5% from January this year.
  • Relaunched an employee benefits package, tailoring it to the mental fitness of its people.
  • To help alleviate rising living costs, gave staff a one-off retail voucher.
  • Launched a new Employer Brand to celebrate its people and the Dalata Difference.

Dalata Hotel Group’s Chief People Officer, Dawn Wynne, commented:

“With a portfolio of 50 hotels and growing, Dalata is certainly in expansion mode and this brings huge opportunities for our people, with the chance to transfer to various locations and also avail of discounted stays across every hotel.  We know just how important it is to have the right people working in our hotels and we are adept at creating the best working environment for our people to excel in.”
