Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery has secured its first major supermarket listing for its award-winning premium gin, Height of Arrows.

From Wednesday 19th March , Height of Arrows Gin will be sold in over 110 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK and will be available to buy online from the retailer’s website.

Founded in 2019, Holyrood Distillery is dedicated to producing spirits that are truly worthy of Scotland’s capital city and its proud past as a centre of brewing and distilling.

Speaking about the partnership, Giancarlo Bianchi, Sales Director of Holyrood Distillery, said: “Securing our first supermarket listing with Sainsbury’s is a significant achievement for Holyrood Distillery. Height of Arrows Gin has been crafted to redefine expectations of gin.

Through the use of only juniper, we produce a clean, classic spirit, carefully distilled to deliver a well-balanced, refined drinking experience. Our juniper-forward gin is complemented by the subtle influences of Isle of Skye sea salt and Edinburgh Honey Co. beeswax, offering a simple but yet elegant profile.

“The team and I are incredibly excited that more consumers across the UK will now have the opportunity to experience Height of Arrows.

Sainsbury’s commitment to quality and innovation makes them an ideal partner for Holyrood Distillery and we look forward to seeing our bold green bottle on shelves from next week.”

Following its release in 2022, Height of Arrows went on to be recognised with multiple awards including 2024 IWSC Design Award, Gin of the Year by Whisky Exchange, New Product of the Year by Scottish Gin Awards, medals at the IWSC and ISC and Gold at the World Gin Awards.

Last year, Holyrood Distillery unveiled a bespoke bottle for Height of Arrows taking inspiration from Edinburgh’s famous extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat which overlooks the distillery.

‘Height Of Arrows’ is the literal translation of ‘Àrd-Na-Said’, the Gaelic name for the iconic landmark. Standing at 251m, the height of Arthur’s Seat was said to be the furthest distance an archer could fire an arrow – literally, aiming higher and breaking boundaries.
