Cast your mind back to 1997: the Spice Girls were topping the charts, Titanic was dominating the box office, and two soon-to-be iconic brands arrived in the UK. Fast forward nearly three decades, and YO! and Tamagotchi have joined forces for the first time – delivering a playful, flavour-packed collaboration that taps into serious 90s nostalgia.
Launching across YO! restaurants nationwide from 21 July to 6 September, the limited-edition menu blends the brand’s signature bold flavours with the unmistakable charm of Tamagotchi. Expect inventive dishes, colourful presentation and a side of retro fun, with select locations also offering kawaii-inspired Gashapon collectibles – perfect for fans who remember the original pocket-sized craze.
True to form, YO!’s menu refresh leans into creative combinations. Highlights include the Chicken Katsu-Kun Sando (£12.95), featuring crispy chicken katsu tucked into soft brioche buns with slaw, smoky mayo and rich katsu sauce. A vegetarian-friendly Pumpkin Katsu-Kun Sando (£11.95) offers a similar flavour profile, while the Mega Katsu-Chan Curry (£13.95) delivers a trio of chicken, prawn and pumpkin katsu alongside aromatic curry sauce and rice. For something more indulgent, the Bulgogi Chicken Karaage-Kun Fries (£12.95) pile crispy fries high with karaage, spicy teriyaki sauce, sesame seeds and crispy onions.

The collaboration also extends to younger diners, with YO!’s Kiddo Bento Boxes getting a Tamagotchi-inspired makeover. Available as part of the brand’s returning Kids Eat Free offer over the summer holidays, the build-your-own bento (£7.95) allows families to mix and match proteins, maki, sides and drinks, with optional dorayaki pancakes for a sweet finish. Limited-edition stickers add an extra collectible element to the experience.
Samantha Kemp, Marketing Director at YO!, said: “This is a collaboration we’ve genuinely been excited about. YO! has always stood for bold flavours and endless fun. Tamagotchi brings that same playful energy that’s had people hooked since the 90s. Put the two together and you’ve got a summer menu that’s as nostalgic as it is delicious.”
Whether it is a trip down memory lane or a first introduction to Tamagotchi’s enduring appeal, this limited-time menu offers a light-hearted take on summer dining. More information and bookings are available via the YO! website.
