Work has officially started on a new Hollywood Bowl venue at The Centre, Livingston, in a move set to further strengthen the shopping centre’s growing leisure offering.
The 26,500 sq. ft, multi-million-pound development will bring 22 lanes of ten-pin bowling, a large arcade featuring the latest Namco games, pool tables, and a bar and diner to the West Lothian destination when it opens this autumn.
The new venue will create 40 local jobs and represents a major milestone for The Centre, Livingston as it marks the centre’s expansion into the leisure sector during its 50th anniversary year.
Since LCP UK, part of M Core, acquired the shopping centre more than two years ago, the owners have been working to deliver a vibrant destination built around the idea of visitors being able to “shop, eat and play”.
That strategy has already seen The Centre, Livingston welcome a range of major brands, with the 1 million sq. ft centre now home to more than 150 stores and restaurants, including M&S, Flannels, H&M, Nando’s, wagamama and the country’s largest JD Sports store. The centre attracts more than 15.8 million visitors each year.
Recent openings have included Starbucks, Wingstop, MINISO, Søstrene Grene, Flying Tiger and the first ArrowHeadz store in Scotland, underlining the centre’s continued appeal to both shoppers and leisure customers.
Stephen Burns, chief executive of Hollywood Bowl Group, said work had begun at the new multi-entertainment centre at The Centre, Livingston, describing it as another important step in the company’s UK growth strategy.
He added that the new venue would create jobs locally while bringing “high-quality, affordable entertainment” to the community.
