INDEPENDENT bottlers Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky have signed a deal with Hammonds of Knutsford as its exclusive UK distributor.

A first for the established Aberdeenshire whisky company, the partnership will see two family-owned businesses working together to distribute a selection from Duncan Taylor’s portfolio.  The agreement should see the brands grow exponentially around the UK.

It’s been a stellar 12 months for Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky with expansion and growth globally. This new contract for Hammonds will promote Duncan Taylor’s core brand of Black Bull Scotch Whisky, which dates back to 1864 but will also include the award-winning Indian Summer Gin and Smokin’ Whisky.

Euan Shand, Chairman of Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, commented: ‘We are delighted to be working with Hammonds whose extensive network around the UK will give us access to fresh on-trade markets. We have big plans for Black Bull Scotch Whisky next year and this will form an integral part of our marketing strategy.  We look forward to seeing the growth for Black Bull, Indian Summer Gin and Smokin’ over the next 12 months.’

Tim Dunlop, Brand Director at Hammonds, added; “I know the team at Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky quite well and I’m a big fan of their Black Bull Scotch Whisky.  I knew their excellent range of whiskies would be the perfect fit as a flagship brand in our revised agency portfolio.

We look forward to growing the existing listings and securing many new ones for their exceptional quality whiskies and gin using our wide customer base across the UK.

This partnership plays into Duncan Taylor’s extensive plans for expansion and growth. In 2021 the company purchased the Castle Hotel and Bank Restaurant, both close to their HQ in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.  Plus, they expanded the team, hiring several new international sales staff.  With everything in place, they are looking forward to the remainder of 2022 which will be a landmark year for the company.
