PRESTONFIELD House, James Thomson’s decadent five-star hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new afternoon tea offering, the Summer Holiday Afternoon Tea to celebrate the upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As an official venue for this year, The Stables at Prestonfield House are hosting a series of in-conversation shows with some of Britain’s biggest legends including Christopher Biggins and Sir Cliff Richard. Inspired by the Summer Holiday singer, Prestonfield House’s new afternoon tea celebrates not only the award-winning artist and the Festival but also the great British holiday and summer in the city.

Served with delightful miniature umbrellas and sand pails, Prestonfield’s Summer Holiday Afternoon Tea features savoury staples including a smoked salmon choux bun, with a delightfully decadent lemon and poppyseed glaze, or a chorizo, mozzarella and tomato brochette. It includes a selection of tempting sandwich options such as ham salad and Prestonfield’s salad cream, cheddar ploughman’s served on walnut and date bread or garlic and lemon chicken sliders. Guests can enjoy delicious homemade scones served with clotted cream and raspberry jam alongside their Summer Holiday Afternoon Tea.

Dessert lovers can indulge in an array of sweet treats including strawberry tart, an amalfi lemon cream cheese madeleine and delicious lime seashells served with meringue pebbles. Prestonfield House’s eccentric dessert selection including raspberry coral, apple and mint kelp, makes for the perfect afternoon tea experience amidst the Edinburgh Fringe Festival celebrations. For those looking to upgrade their afternoon tea, guests can choose to add some fizz and enjoy their afternoon tea with a glass of Billecart Salmon Brut Réserve. Guests can also choose from a vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free afternoon tea alternative.

During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, running from Friday 4th August to Monday 28th August, Prestonfield House is a fantastic dining option for those looking to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city while enjoying the festive atmosphere in all its glory. Guests can soak up the celebratory atmosphere with an array of dining options at Prestonfield House, including the Summer Holiday Afternoon Tea in the gardens, a delightful lunch in Rhubarb Restaurant or an intimate dining experience in the hotel’s private rooms including the historic Italian Room or the elegant Garden Room.
