Popeyes® UK, the home of Famous Louisiana Chicken, launched its fourth greater Glasgow restaurant in Nerston, East Kilbride, on Monday, 27 January.
The grand opening was met with tremendous enthusiasm, as eager customers queued for up to 11 hours to savour the legendary Chicken Sandwich that ‘broke the internet’.
The restaurant officially opened its doors at 11am, but the excitement began much earlier. Devoted fans started queuing overnight, with Tobey Ladds being the first to arrive on foot at midnight, armed with hot water bottles to brave the cold.
Reiss Blackhall secured the coveted first spot in the drive-thru line.Tobey Ladds, a returning customer, expressed his enthusiasm: “I love Popeyes and it was so worth waiting outside for this. I arrived here at 12am last night. I remember the last time I was at the Glasgow store; it was absolutely brilliant!”
True to its roots, Popeyes® UK brought a taste of New Orleans to East Kilbride. The brand treated chicken aficionados to:

Each piece of Popeyes® famous chicken undergoes a 12-hour marination process in a signature blend of Louisiana herbs and spices, followed by hand-breading and battering to achieve the world-famous ‘shatter crunch’.
From 8am to 11am, customers can enjoy a breakfast menu featuring British classics with a New Orleans twist:
