An Edinburgh brewery has created the ‘perfect gift’ for beer lovers this Christmas, inspired by the chocolates people hunt for first in the tin.

The sour beer elves at Vault City have been working overtime to create new Quaffable Treats Christmas Selection Box (£37.80) which features five limited-edition beers designed around the flavours people usually argue over, only this time there is no sharing required.

The selection includes Gold Standard (15%), a decadent imperial stout inspired by hazelnut praline, smooth and bold with a luxuriously lingering finish that feels purpose-built for Christmas Day. Orange Chocolate Crunch (6%) brings bright orange zest together with chocolate and honeycomb sweetness for a nostalgic festive hit. Cherry Cocoa Mocha Melt (8.2%) layers juicy cherry with chocolate and warming mocha notes for a rich and velvety winter serve. Strawberry Coconut Crème Delight (6.4%) is reminiscent of the strawberry crème often hunted for first in the tin, rounded here with soft coconut for extra indulgence. Finally, Truffle Berry Bliss (4.6%) combines creamy white chocolate character with tart berries in a lighter, sessionable pour and is vegan-friendly.

Vault City founder Steven Smith-Hay says: “Every year the chocolate boxes get smaller. So we thought, let’s do the opposite.

“Big flavours, full-sized cans, no cutting corners. If Christmas is for treating yourself, let’s actually treat ourselves. We wanted this to be the perfect gift for beer lovers, or anyone who just appreciates a proper festive indulgence.”

Since 2018, Vault City have built a cult following for bold, fruit-forward sours inspired by nostalgic flavours, from Neapolitan ice cream to cherry cola cubes, all brewed at their home in Portobello, Edinburgh.

The Quaffable Treats Christmas Selection Box is available now at vaultcity.co.uk and selected independent retailers.
