For years, customers of Inverness-based Harry Gow Bakery have asked the same question: when will its much-loved cakes be available beyond the Highlands? Now, the family-run business is delivering an answer with the launch of a new Sharing Cake Range in 50 Asda stores across Scotland.
The move marks a significant retail milestone for the bakery, bringing its made-from-scratch cakes to supermarket shelves nationwide for the first time. Known for its loyal following and distinctly Highland character, Harry Gow is now offering more customers the chance to enjoy its products as part of their weekly shop.
Despite the expansion, the bakery has remained firm in its approach. Each cake continues to be made from scratch using quality ingredients, staying true to the methods that have defined the business for generations.
David Gow, Managing Director at Harry Gow Bakery, said: “We’ve had customers asking us for years when they would be able to buy Harry Gow outside the Highlands.
“The challenge was finding the right opportunity to take Harry Gow further.
“We’ve always believed that if we put our name on something, it has to be done properly. That means no pre-mix, we still bake from scratch, we still care about the ingredients, and we still believe cake should taste like it came from a bakery, not a production line.
“Launching our new Sharing Cake Range with Asda Scotland is a huge moment for our family business. It means more people across Scotland can enjoy a taste of Harry Gow, while we continue doing things the way we always have.
“The cakes are made for sharing, but we suspect there may be a few friendly debates around who gets the last slice.”
The Asda partnership arrives during a standout year for Harry Gow. The bakery was recently named Scottish Baker of the Year 2026 for the third time, a record no other bakery has achieved, and secured five of the 11 national product awards at this year’s ceremony.
For many, Harry Gow represents more than just a bakery. It is a familiar stop on journeys north, a box of treats brought home by visiting family, and a brand known for its dry humour and strong social media presence.
The new Sharing Cake Range features three varieties: the bakery’s popular Vanilla Raspberry Slice alongside two new flavours, Lemon and Butterscotch. Designed for sharing, the cakes bring scratch-baked sponge and rich, bakery-quality flavours to homes across Scotland.

The range will be available in Asda stores from 23 July, priced at £4.25.
