Scottish Culinary Championships – Entry Deadline extended

THE 34th Scottish Culinary Championships are returning this year to ScotHot, and chefs have just two weeks left to enter, as the deadline for Live Theatre Competition and Skills Arena classes has now been extended to the 14^th of February, while the deadline for Culinary Arts classes is 28^th February.

Sponsored by Compass Scotland, the programme will once again challenge and celebrate chefs both new and established from across Scotland. Headed by Scottish Chefs CEO, Neil Thomson and a team of experienced judges, the Live Theatre Competition, The Skills Arena – supporting the Andrew Fairlie scholarship and HIT Scotland, and Culinary Arts classes are open for chefs to enter themselves or submit colleagues into a wide variety of workshops to hone their skills and show off their culinary prowess.

Live Theatre Competition Classes will host a packed programme of back-to-back hot live classes both days of the show, with competitions to suit chefs of all levels of experience from across all industry sectors. Classes include creating a Sustainable Fish Dish, a Food for Life Challenge to create a main course appropriate for a public sector establishment using organic, healthy products, a Braehead Foods Mystery Basket challenge, and a Vegan main course. The classes also include the Scottish Young Chef of the Year 2023, alongside the Scottish Chef of the Year 2023 competition sponsored by Lomond Foods.

The Skills Arena – supporting the Andrew Fairlie scholarship and HIT Scotland – is sponsored by the scholarship launched with the intention to celebrate chefs demonstrating passion, professionalism, and integrity. The Skills Arena will incorporate a programme of cold live classes for chefs and service staff to showcase some of the essential skills that will form a crucial part of their role as their career progresses – including skills like fish preparation, flambé, cocktail mixology, and a hollandaise challenge.

The Culinary Art competition programme will comprise a challenging array of static classes that will showcase the incredible talent and creativity across the industry. There will be a wide range of competitions using many different mediums, including floral sugarcraft, works in chocolate, finger foods, afternoon tea selection, food photography and a five course gastronomic menu.

No age restrictions apply for all open Live Theatre Classes. Junior Live Theatre Classes open to all chefs who are aged 23 or under as at 28^th February 2023.
