Aldi Scotland has partnered with a trio of leading Scottish bakers to launch a limited-edition range of football-inspired pies, arriving in stores nationwide from Thursday 11 June.
Created to celebrate this summer’s World Cup and its host nations, the new line-up features eight themed pies designed with fans in mind, combining global flavours with traditional Scottish baking.
Leading the range is Pie Sports, which has developed three pies inspired by host countries USA, Canada and Mexico. These include a Chilli Cheese Dog Pie, a Maple BBQ Brisket Pie, and a Mexican Spicy Beef Pie (all £2.89). The baker has also introduced a Stovie Pie made with premium link sausage, offering a nod to Scotland manager Steve Clarke’s squad.
Brownings, best known for its iconic Killie Pie, contributes the Tartan Army Pie (£1.99), filled with mince and potatoes in tribute to supporters backing Scotland from afar. Meanwhile, Bells completes the line-up with three bold options: a Mexican Chicken Fajita Pie, a Philly Cheesesteak Pie, and a Maple Bacon Mac and Cheese Pie (all £2.49).
The launch comes as new research commissioned by Aldi reveals strong national enthusiasm for Scotland’s World Cup campaign. Surveying more than 1,140 Scots, the retailer found that 77% believe the team can progress beyond the group stages, while 82% plan to follow the tournament. Notably, one in six supporters say they are willing to stay up into the early hours to watch matches live.
Alan Leslie, Buying Director at Aldi Scotland, said: “We’ve surveyed the nation, and we know that there is a real sense of excitement around the tournament.
“Pies are loved by supporters across the country, and with so many Tartan Army fans cheering Steve Clarke’s men on from home because of the late kick-offs, creating a special range of tournament-inspired pies made perfect sense.
