Cannonball restaurant offers free fizz for Valentine’s Day engagements

Cannonball on the Royal Mile with the best views in the city is offering a complimentary bottle of fizz for any couple who gets engaged on the iconic Castle Esplanade on Valentine’s Day this year.

The  restaurant and bar housed in a 17th century grandeur building is known for its charming setting and unrivalled views of Edinburgh Castle, providing the perfect backdrop for any romantic celebration.

The menu at Cannonball is a contemporary take on Scottish classics and reflects the seasonal ingredients available from local suppliers; the expert kitchen team has created an elegant Valentine’s tasting menu with paired wines to indulge the senses.

The menu comprises five courses with homemade bread, whipped butter and an amuse bouche to start, followed by parsnip velouté with sage oil and crispy shallots a choice of red deer loin with juniper and red cabbage or salt baked celeriac with black garlic, Jerusalem artichoke and broccoli.

This is followed by Clava Brie with quince jelly and oatcakes and a chocolate cannonball with tarocco blood orange and Katy Rodger’s creme fraiche.

Priced at £60 for the tasting menu and Valentine’s cocktail, £40 for paired wines
