Stoats launches protein bars exclusively in 30 Tesco stores across Scotland

09/07/2024

Snack bar brand Stoats is launching two new listings with Tesco in selected stores across Scotland later this month.

The Scottish bakery has expanded its range by adding two protein oat bars to Tesco shelves in 30 stores across Scotland since 22 July.

Established in 2005, Stoats was founded by school friends Tony Stone and Bob Arnott, a supplier to Tesco since 2011; more than two million Stoats bars are sold through Tesco every year.

The independent company’s entire range is made with Scottish oats, and each product is produced at the firm’s bakery in Loanhead, Midlothian.

Tony Stone, managing director for Stoats, said: “We’re immensely proud of our two new protein bars and delighted that we’re getting to list them in 30 of Tesco’s Extra stores in Scotland.

“We’re very excited to share them with local shoppers across the country, who have always been so supportive of our brand throughout the years.”

“Our two new bars come with completely new flavours created by our product team of Apple & Raspberry and Cookies & Cream made using wholegrain Scottish oats.

“With 8g of protein in each bar, they are perfect for busy lifestyles, whether it’s grabbing a quick bite on the way out for the school run or before a 5k run. They are the perfect addition to a balanced diet.”

In the UK, adults are advised to eat 0.75g of protein for each kilogram they weigh, based on the Reference Nutrient Intake (RNI).

Calum Nimmo, buyer for Tesco in Scotland, said: “One of the best parts of my job is being able to help support local suppliers to bring their creations to shelves across the country and Stoats is a fantastic example of that.

“The team have worked so hard to create products which meet consumer needs in a fast-paced environment.

“It’s great to have these two fantastic Scottish products listed in 30 of our larger stores across the country.”

Stoats is just the latest new Scottish product to be launched by Tesco in Scotland.

The supermarket’s Scottish-based buying team plans further product launches this year to expand its industry-leading range of Scottish products in stores.

Tesco has a strong commitment to sourcing Scottish products for Scottish stores and is proud to carry many Scottish lines in Tesco stores across the UK.
