Nestled in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, The Caravan Shop is an intimate wine bar and bottle shop blending heritage charm with contemporary hospitality. Opened in May 2025, the venue takes its name from the building’s original use as a caravan shop – a nod to its history spanning more than four decades.
The kitchen is helmed by Head Chef Alan Doig, who works alongside Chef Director Colin Anderson – also of Brett, Kelvinbridge – to curate a menu of thoughtful bar snacks, charcuterie, and cheese, all designed to pair seamlessly with the bar’s extensive wine list.
Guests can enjoy dishes such as Cantabrian anchovy gilda; ham hough & trotter croquette with pickled walnut; beef tartare with house crisps and pickles; and Great Glen venison salami served with cornichons and baguette. A particular highlight is The Caravan Shop’s signature mac & cheese waffle with creamed wholegrain mustard, pickled onions, and parsley. Sweet options include soft-serve ice cream and affogato made with Tim Donkey Espresso.
From Thursdays through Sundays, the offering extends to a late-morning menu featuring coffee, Company Bakery pastries, and breakfast bowls such as açai with banana, berries, peanut butter, cocoa nibs, coconut flakes, and granola.

The drinks side is led by General Manager Christopher R. Brewer, who has “curated The Caravan Shop’s extensive cellar” with a focus on quality and accessibility. Wines are priced at exceptional value, with a frequently changing by-the-glass list and three on tap. “We want guests to explore different wines in a welcoming, informal setting,” Brewer explains. The list mainly spotlights European producers, complemented by a considered selection of New World bottles.
Classics such as negronis on tap and spritzes sit alongside draught beers and Guinness, offering plenty of choice for all palates.
Tucked beneath the main bar lies Cellar – a cosy, candlelit wine den open on Friday and Saturday evenings. Designed as “an escape from the everyday,” Cellar features Coravin-poured wines and exclusive bottles unavailable upstairs. It plays host to a regular Cellar Series, bringing together exceptional wines and stories from diverse regions.
Inside, a 19th-century mahogany cabinet houses glassware, surrounded by timber racks, wine boxes, and soft lighting for a warm, lived-in feel. A curated vinyl collection spins throughout the evening, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for intimate gatherings. Cellar can accommodate up to ten guests and is also available for private hire.

Upstairs, The Caravan Shop offers seating for 21 guests in a light-filled space where original signage and branding have been retained “as a nod to the building’s heritage”. The bar’s glass frontage floods the room with natural light, while an expansive tiled counter forms the centrepiece. Blue velvet banquette seating contrasts with rustic plastered walls and graphic bar prints – a setting that feels both sophisticated and playful.
