Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club has announced a landmark sponsorship partnership with Dubai headquartered luxury hospitality group JA Resorts & Hotels, funding a comprehensive upgrade of the much loved golf hut on Bruntsfield Links.
Set within one of the most historic stretches of golfing ground in the world, the 36 hole short course on Bruntsfield Links holds a unique place in the sport’s heritage. Often described as a spiritual home of golf in Edinburgh, the free to use community course attracts thousands of golfers, families and visitors each year.
The newly refurbished hut has been carefully upgraded to preserve its character while improving facilities for modern use. Works include a refreshed exterior and interior, new flooring, a replacement door, and the installation of a new soakaway surround.
The investment reflects a natural alignment for JA Resorts & Hotels, whose four star property, JA The Bruntsfield, overlooks the Links and is itself set to undergo a major redevelopment later in 2026.

A spokesperson for JA Resorts & Hotels said: “Bruntsfield Links is woven into the very fabric of golf’s global story, and as our neighbour here in Edinburgh, it is a place we see and treasure every single day. As custodians of three destination golf experiences across the group, at JA Mar Hall in Scotland, JA The Resort in Dubai, and now at the Short Hole Golf Club on our doorstep, investing in this much loved community course felt like the most natural extension of our commitment to the game, to Edinburgh, and to Scotland.”
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to preserving Scotland’s golfing heritage while enhancing access to the sport at a grassroots level.
A spokesperson for Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club added: “Bruntsfield Links has played a significant part in the historic development of the game of golf in Scotland since the 15th century and is one of the oldest golfing links in the world where golf is still played. Having JA The Bruntsfield, quite literally our neighbour across the Links, step forward to support this upgrade is enormously meaningful.

“It brings the golf hut up to a standard that matches the warmth of welcome we want every golfer to experience, and it strengthens a connection between our two institutions that has existed in spirit for many years. The refurbished hut has already been met with widespread praise from both Club members and the public, reinforcing its role as a welcoming focal point on one of Edinburgh’s most treasured open spaces.
