Scottish butcher, Simon Howie, has added two new products to its portfolio.

For the first time the company is producing beef bacon, a delicious alternative to pork bacon, which is lower in fat and higher in protein.

Premium Dry Cure Smoked Streaky Beef Bacon and Premium Dry Cure Unsmoked Streaky Beef Bacon make a versatile and easy to use ingredient which is a great addition to pastas, salads and stir frys, while also tasting great in sandwiches and baguettes.

The new streaky beef bacon products follow the successful launch of Simon Howie’s Premium Unsmoked Beef Bacon Medallions in April.

The Unsmoked Streaky Beef Bacon has already gained recognition for its quality scooping a 2024 Great Taste Award.

The butcher is also announcing extended listings for its Reduced Fat Gluten Free Black Pudding, which was unveiled in April, and is now available in Tesco stores across Scotland.

The black pudding has all the great taste of Simon Howie’s classic black pudding with 30% less fat, making it a healthier choice for customers.

The reformulated product was a result of consumer demand, with the butcher receiving multiple requests from the gluten free community asking for a black pudding to suit.

Product development was made possible thanks to a grant from the Food and Drink Federation’s Reformul8 Challenge Fund, which supports businesses in Scotland to make products healthier.

The Reduced Fat Gluten Free Black Pudding is available now at Tesco and Asda across Scotland. The Smoked and Unsmoked Streaky Beef Bacons are available at Scottish Tesco stores.
