The Glasgow Distillery Company’s 2019 Release of 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky is now available to purchase in World Duty Free stores throughout Scotland’s major International airports.

The move into travel retail follows the news of Gold Medal success for 1770 at the World’s largest spirits competition, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, earlier this week.

The Glasgow Distillery Company recently unveiled the return of their 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky with the launch of a successful pre-sale on the Glasgow distillery company website. With pre-sale orders currently being shipped, the 2019 Release is now available on general sale.

Commenting on the World Duty Free partnership, Co-founder and CEO, Liam Hughes, said:

“Millions of people travel through Scotland’s airports each year, so we’re excited to share our award-winning 1770 single malt whisky on such a global scale. World Duty Free is the world’s largest travel retail store and it’s an honour to be listed alongside some of the world’s greatest spirits.

“We were also delighted to receive the news that 1770 has also picked up a Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, which recognises exceptional products in the spirits industry. It was a record-breaking year that featured almost 3,000 entries from all corners of the world- the largest number of entries in their 19-year history- so we are riding high with a Gold.”

The Glasgow Distillery Company also produce the multi award-winning range of Makar Gin.  Their Makar Cherry Gin was recently awarded the title of ‘World’s Best Flavoured Gin’ and is also now available to purchase in World Duty Free stores throughout Scotland’s major International airports, alongside a limited-edition travel retail-exclusive of Makar Original Dry Gin.
