Plans for a new whisky distillery on the shore of Loch Leven have been recommended for approval, bringing a further boost to Scotland’s growing spirits sector.

The proposal, which has been considered by planning officials, would see a new distillery developed in a lochside setting, adding to the pipeline of projects aimed at expanding whisky production and visitor appeal across Scotland.

If approved, the development would join a steady stream of new distillery investment in Scotland, as producers continue to back locations with strong tourism potential and clear links to the country’s whisky heritage.

The recommendation comes amid continued interest in whisky tourism and distillery-led destinations, with new projects often combining production with hospitality, retail and visitor experiences to widen their appeal.
