Tucked away off Scotland’s west coast, the Isle of Raasay has fast become one of whisky’s most coveted destinations. With just 161 permanent residents, this tiny Hebridean island boasts a dramatic, volcanic landscape, a warm community, and a distillery that’s making waves not only for its whisky, but also for its one-of-a-kind hospitality.
Now, Raasay’s story continues with the unveiling of Na Bothain (The Bothies), five new luxury cabins beside the renowned distillery. Inspired by the Highland bothy – a simple, welcoming shelter for travellers – the new cabins marry rustic Scottish charm with the comforts of modern design. Expect cosiness and creativity in equal measure: each cabin offers panoramic, floor-to-ceiling views of the Cuillin mountains on Skye, interiors decked in Hebridean textiles, and artwork by local talents that tell Raasay’s own story.

Famed as the only working distillery in Scotland where guests can stay on site, Raasay’s expansion means more visitors can now enjoy this extraordinary setting. Every Bothan is unique, yet all blend contemporary luxury with the honest simplicity of Highland tradition. There are delightful details for the whisky enthusiast too—from quirky distillery nods in the décor to hand-crafted comforts throughout.
Following a successful soft launch in October, Na Bothain is now fully open for stays from Thursday to Monday through November, before a brief winter closing. Nights for two start at £360 (bed and breakfast), with the more inclusive Island Escape Package from £380, offering:
- Private Bothan accommodation for two
- Breakfast featuring local produce
- A welcome drink of The Draam, Raasay Gin, or a signature cocktail
- Guided whisky and chocolate tour, plus island and warehouse tastings
- Three-course meal with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine
- Late checkout at noon
- Access to the exclusive Private Cask Programme
For those wishing to savour Raasay’s peaceful rhythm and spectacular sunsets, a two-night escape comes highly recommended. Coinciding with Na Bothain’s launch, the distillery now offers The Raasay Way Experience – a hands-on, two-night whisky adventure. Guests can mill, mash, and help produce new spirit alongside the skilled distillers, join whisky-paired dinners, blend and bottle their own unique dram, and enjoy a Q&A breakfast with the team. It’s an in-depth opportunity to connect with the people and place behind every bottle, with select dates available through 2026.
